Hannah is a PhD student in Prof. Tom Gillingwater’s lab working on understanding how specific mutations cause motor neuron diseases, specifically spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Her research aims to develop new treatments for SMA and use our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases with known causes – like SMA – to explore the mechanisms behind those with unknown causes.
Hannah completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of St. Andrews, followed by a Master’s by Research at the University of Edinburgh in 2022.
